Pam 25th May 2020

Our lifelong friendship began the moment she appeared at the door of the Guides meeting place at Paddington Chapel when we were 11. Without her energy, determination and enthusiasm I doubt that I (or another friend Sheila) could ever have joined her as Queen’s Guides 4 years later. Still in the Guides, we shared my first holiday abroad cycling in Holland. And then through the years there would come those postcards where every tiny available space was taken up in writing about her travels. In between times we’d often meet up in London and later in Cheltenham or Orkney (which she especially enjoyed in 2011 and 2013 and walked us off our feet!). Though abroad when I got married, she attended Steve and my 25th and 50th Wedding Anniversaries full of her bubbling energy (she boarded a plane to some far-off place that same night!) For this last she presented us with a beautiful old fashioned scented white rose which we have always referred to as Eleanor’s Rose. …now all the more precious with her passing.
